Community Workshops FAQ

We combine videos, podcasts, and virtual events into Community Workshops that gain and retain customers.

What is a Community Workshop?

A Community Workshop is a virtual event which enables people who share a common interest to network with each other in real time. It’s an ideal way for people with a common interest to connect. The video presentation at our Community Workshops usually feature a one-on-one conversation between a host and an expert. For example, a Community Workshop for aspiring filmmakers might show attendees how to light their shots.

The videos for these workshops are produced to look similar to a typical television interview. These videos are then used for content marketing and lead nurturing after the workshop. They are also used to encourage people to attend future Community Workshops.

Audio versions of the interview are published as a podcast series and distributed through podcast directories, including Apple Podcasts and Spotify.

These unique combinations of videos, podcasts, and virtual events not only provides marketers with content that can be used to attract customers, but also help them build communities with a measurable ROI.

How do I know if Community Workshops are a good fit for my organization?

Community Workshops are a fantastic way to turn your customers into a community, but they won’t work for every organization. Community Workshops work best if:

  • Your customers want to talk to each other about your product or service area
  • Your organization can attract virtual event attendees through a large email list or social media following

Community Workshops are unlikely to work for your organization if:

  • Your customers are competitive or want to protect their privacy in a way that makes them unlikely to communicate with each other
  • Your organization is brand new or does not have an email database

What is included when you produce the videos and podcast?

For each Community Workshop, we produce a video to be used as the main presentation. This video can also be made available on-demand after the event. It’s a great follow-up asset for those who may have missed it, and it’s a wonderful way to encourage people to attend the next workshop.

The videos feature one-on-one conversations with an expert. They are produced to look similar to television interviews.

Here’s what we do when we produce your videos:

  • Develop your show concept
  • Coach your host
  • Provide the recording equipment
  • Assist with the recording process
  • Create the artwork for the video thumbnails
  • Create production elements, including intro and outro segments
  • Edit and mix the audio
  • Review metrics with you

We also make the audio of the interviews available as a podcast series, including uploading it to major directories like Apple Podcasts and Spotify.

How are Community Workshops different from a typical webinar?

We’ve all attended webinars: listening to somebody drone on as they narrate a slideshow presentation while we check our email inbox. Half the time, we don’t even attend the webinars we register for because we know they’re going to send us the recording anyway.

Community Workshops are far more dynamic! First, they look like a conversation between two people on television. When you watch the main presentation, it feels like you’re watching TV, not a lecture.

More importantly, when you attend a Community Workshop, you have the opportunity to virtually network with other attendees in real time. This unique opportunity to meet others who share a similar interest provides an extra incentive to attend the event.

How are Community Workshops different from a branded podcast?

When you hire us to produce a series of virtual Community Workshops, we release audio recordings of your presentations as a branded podcast series. But your workshops come with a number of advantages over simply creating a stand-alone podcast series.

When you produce a stand-alone podcast, it is very difficult to track whether or not listeners become leads which later covert into paying customers. As a result, it is hard to measure the ROI of branded podcasts.

By incorporating the podcast into a strategy that also uses videos and virtual events, you can track how many leads are generated through event registration. The podcast episodes can then be used as follow-up assets in a lead nurturing email campaign.  This makes it much easier to track conversion and measure the ROI of your marketing efforts.

How many workshops are included in a series?

We produce annual packages of six or twelve Community Workshops. If your organization requires more frequent workshops, we can customize a package for you. Schedule a free consultation with us.

How do Community Workshops fit with our email marketing strategy?

Email plays an important role both before and after your Community Workshops. Prior to each event, email your database to drive registration.

After each event, you can send the video recording as well as a link to the podcast episode as a follow-up asset. This is a fantastic way to stay engaged with customers and leads.

Can we sell sponsorships to our Community Workshops?

Yes! Our team will work with you to design sponsorship packages for your virtual events.

Can event producers host Community Workshops?

Absolutely! If you produce a large annual event, such as a conference or a festival, virtual Community Workshops are the ideal way to keep your attendees engaged throughout the year. These workshops are designed to supplement, not replace, in-person events.
